It’s still not quite finished. We’ve got an antique mirror that will go over the bookcase my husband made, and then there’s the matter of putting the pictures on the walls, and I need a place for my wire shelves o’ writing stuff — paper, research materials, correspondence, and miscellanea — but for all intents and purposes, I’m moved in!

Yay! It looks wonderful.

I like the wall color and the wood. I don’t know exactly what your metal shelves look like but I suggest putting up shelves made of wood with fancy metal brackets (Hobby Lobby often has great ones) to go with the wood in the room.

Thanks! I actually think that most of the stuff in the metal shelves can go in the desk drawers (the pantry didn’t have drawers). So I might not have to put the shelves up after all. And we did move the computer off the desk to the floor, at the advice of FB friends, so now I can put all of my CDs on the desk for instant access.

Weirdness — my keyboard keys click very loudly in this room. It is going to take awhile to get used to that (I think the sound was dampened in the pantry).

Try adding some sound-absorbing materials if the clicking is too annoying–curtains, larger rug or extra rug, cushions on the rocker, wall-hanging, beanbag chair, etc.

As I slowly move everything over and it starts filling up, I think the sound issues will be resolved. I do want to keep this space less cluttered, but we’ll see if that happens, or if it’s even conducive to good writing.
